Guest Designer for Twofer Challenge....

I was thrilled to be The' Unconventional Winner' at The Twofer Challenge
with these two cards for the month of March.
As a result I was kindly invited to guest design this month.

I am lucky enough to be sharing the guest designing with the wonderful Linda
from Life In The Craft Lane, so pop across and be inspired.

The Twofer challenge for May is Butterflies
and I wanted to try and do something a little unconventional with my butterflies.
I have used the same die cut Butterfly on both of the cards......

These are my two cards...........

You must use the same stamp or die to make two different designs for two different occasions
and if the occasions are not clear, it would be good to state them in your post.....

My First Card..........

I die cut the butterfly lots of times,
water coloured with Lindy powders, activated with water
and then cut the butterfly in half, omitting the body part...ouch....
The flower stem and sentiment have been stamped
and I have used washi tape down the right hand side.
I finished off with gold paint around the edges.

My Second Card, which is an encouragement card......

I cut a pointed shoe shape out of thick grey board.
Popped it on my pancake maker for constant heat and used clear UTEE,
black and platinum embossing powder for a layering effect.
I also used frantage glass glitter and mica bits.
I used a cocktail stick to achieve the effect I wanted on the shoe and on the butterfly.
For the skin of the foot I used acrylic paints.
Finishing off with stamping and heat embossing  the strong and encouraging sentiment ,
which I thought went well with the bold shoe image.
I had so much fun making these two cards.

There was some debate after finishing my shoe card...
To my mind it is a shoe
To my DH the butterfly is a necklace, over a black top/dress
or
Is it a lady in a white jacket, with a black shirt underneath
I would love to know what you initially saw when looking at this card
Thank you x

Please Pop across to The Twofer Challange and be inspired by
the wonderful and creative design team.....And..... to join in this fun Challenge.
Thank you Darnell for inviting me to guest with you this month...

Crafty Hugs

Challenges I would love to enter.....

With My Flower Card....
The Card Concept - Inspiration photo - Bold Bloom
What a fabulous inspiration Photo... My Style for this card is Clean and Layered....
Loved the large Bloom, the striking colour, which inspired my colour choice and the vertical blinds on the right, which inspired me to put the striped washi tape down the right hand side of my card
AAA Cards Challenge - Tic Tac Toe
I have gone with the left hand vertical column.....Gold, water-colouring and Flowers
Stamplorations - Theme Challenge - Things with wings....

With My Shoe Card......
Stamplorations - CAS Challenge - Things with Wings
Stamplorations - CUTplorations - Using a die and a Things with wings theme...
Joining in with my encouragement card....
Thrilled to be chosen as a rocker with my Shoe card - Thank you

I am in awe!! These are spectacular and so unique! I first thought the same as your DH... Black dress with necklace... But now I know it's a shoe I can see it. Either way it's a stunner! The flower made from butterflies is so vibrant and really beautiful not to mention clever!

Oh... I forgto to say "many congrats on your win"!!!

Wow, Mac ... wow! That's one for each card! Your quirky sunflower (that's what I'm calling it!) is so rich and vibrant ... the saturated colour and gold edging is such a brilliant contrast with the crisp black and white stem, leaves and border. Really clever use of the butterfly wings! Your second card ... at first I saw what your DH did ... a piece of stunning jewellery against the neckline of a little black dress ... though after reading your description I see the equally elegant shoe too. Beautiful shine ... and so stylish, however one sees it! Thanks so much for inspiring our players as our Guest Designer at Twofer this month! Hugs, Anita :)

What an imagination and eye for design, Mac Mable!! These are both so spectacular and out-of-the-box. I must admit my first thought was white jacket/black dress with butterfly embellishment but I do now see the shoe.

One of my sisters is a shoe-aholic so I definitely saw a shoe when I first looked at it as it is exactly the kind of shoe she would love! But after reading your post, I also saw it as the neck of a dress with a beautiful butterfly pin in the V. Either way, it's gorgeous!! And I love the idea of using the butterfly die to create the petals of a flower - I never would have thought of that! It's done in such fabulous vibrant colours that contrast so well with the black and white stripes.

Two stunners - I had to come over from the Twofer challenge for a closer look! Initially I thought it was a neckline but having had a closer look, can see it's a shoe and what a shoe!

Your flower is beautiful, I love his fiery color. I have the impression that these butterflies at some point will lift in the air. The second card is very surprising. Of course, it is a white dress with a black triangular insert :-))
But given the fact that the black insert is glazed, of course it's a shoe! Each option is real!
Hugs,
BożenA

I am always amazed by your imagination and work, so ingenious and beautiful, I LOVE the butterfly flower with the black and white, such a vibrant card. As for the dress with an insert, I mean a shoe with decoration, no I mean a jacket and dress with necklace - it is STUNNING whatever. Fabulous work Mac.

WOW what amazing cards Mac, you certainly do think outside the box, so creative. Wonderfully designed, I love them. Congrats on winning the challenge too, Kate x

Oh wow! wow! wow! Mac, your creativity is awe-inspiring! Beautiful bold butterfly flower and your dress shirt — oh, I mean your shoe — card using the faux enamel technique looks amazing! I obviously saw a fancy female white suit with a dressy shirt and a butterfly broac/necklace before I read your post. Love these. Congrats on GD!

Marina said...

I saw cleavage! But when you say it's a shoe I say 'oh yes!' You're really showing exactly why you were the unconventional winner with these two fabulous cards. And thanks for asking about my computer - always a few teething problems but working fine now.

You’ve knocked unconventional out of the park with these two beauties, Mac! On the Twofer blog I saw a black top, but on your blog I see the shoe. It’s like one of those optical illusion pictures, you see one thing, then another, and keep swapping between them! And I love your butterfly flower ❤️

Kara Lynne said...

Two gorgeous, creative cards, Mac! Your flower is so vibrant and, knowing it's Lindy's, I'm sure it shines. I first saw a white jacket, but I totally see the shoe now. An elegant shoe at that! Thank you for guest designing for the Twofer Card Challenge!

You have done it again M. Amazed me with these 2 oh so differently fabulous creations. Your mind wanders in such great direction and certainly have an eye for finding how to do things out of the ordinary in a big way.
My first thought on your 'shoe' was a white dress with a black bodice with the butterfly on top. I would loved to have seen you in the kitchen heating your shoe shape with the pancake maker. What did hubby say to that? Of course it is so over to top out of the 'shoe box' spectacular. Perfect sentiment.
Now that flower is so bold and bright. Lots of feathers (poor butterflies). Love the zentangle type branch/leaves and the washi taped side. How cute the wee Hello is too. Great finisher with the centre stripe. You truly are amazing how you create so spectacularly. Of course I LOVE these cards.

Julia Aston said...

AWESOME DESIGNS!!! had to get that off my chest first - then to your question - I immediately thought 'shoe' but then my mind slipped to 'OR white jacket, black blouse with a butterfly button at the top" but whatever we see - it's a gorgeous creative design MAC! and your bright butterfly wing flower is just as creative! well done you!!

Bonnie said...

I see a shoe that I wish I could wear! How elegant!!! The butterfly "clip" is so perfect with the faux enamel shoe! Love the flower with all the butterfly petals! Gorgeous colors! Congratulations again, Mac! So well deserving and inspiring!

Brenda said...

Congrats on your GDS at the Twofer challenge! OMGosh, these cards are amazing! First off the flower you made with the butterfly die is amazing and so unique and so clever! Your second card is clever too, but I didn't realize it was a shoe, I thought it was a woman's neck, with her blouse peaking out of a white jacket. lol So when I read your post I had to go back and look and sure enough it was a shoe again. But....I still think it looks like a woman's neck and blouse/jacket. lol Still very clever! Hugs, Brenda

Two fabulous cards and great ideas of different ways to use the butterflies. I love the flower petals from the butterfly wings and the stripes on the stem, leaves and flower centre look great and coordinate perfectly with the washi stripes down the righthand side, and the the shoe front so shiny using the UTEE and the gold on the butterfly and round the shoe looks terrific. I'm afraid I thought it was a butterfly necklace over a black top too, and did wonder why it went to a point like that, but didn't think of the jacket idea, but it is obvious what it is now. x

Mac you certainly have the knack of taking the twofer for the limit. another two amazingly clever twofer cards. Love the tux and the flower is so cute.

I'm in the white jacket, black shirt, necklace camp. Really intrigued by the varying visual interpretations. My favorite parts are the "metallic" butterfly and the striped "greenery". Had never seen the latter stamp....off to find. Fabulous job, thanks for sharing, and congratulations on the win.

Both of your cards are gorgeous, Mac! I love how you used the butterfly dies to make your flower petals. Thanks for sharing at AAA Cards challenges.

Hi! Love the butterfly necklace on a black shirt! That's what I saw at first. BUT the gorgeous flower is what I love best! As someone said, WOW.

These are amazing! I am in awe of your artistic vision/ability to see and create outside the box.

Loll said...

Incredible imagination, Mac!! Two so very creative cards!! Love the bright colours of your butterfly wing flower. Very artsy and fun and reminds me of a JOFY image. :) LOVE it!

And your show ... WOW! Love the layered embossing powders to creat the most beautiful faux enamel shoe. Honestly, when I first say it, I thought it was a woman's neck with a fancy collared dress. :) Lots of ways to interpret ... all so amazing!

Thanks for being our Guest Designer this month at Twofer Card Challenge! xx

The creative uses of your butterfly is amazing! Both cards are fantastic be it the butterfly adorned shoe or the bright flower made out of the wings! So excited to have you as our guest designer at the Twofer this month!

Mia said...

Wow Mac!!! Your cards are stunning!!!!!!! Oh, my friend, I LOVE them!!!!! Well, to my mind your card is not a shoe but a lady in a white jacket with a black shirt underneath and the butterfly is the closing of the zipper. Kisses, my friend.

Patti said...

An unconventional winner giggles!! well Mac! I guess that does describe your spectacular creations!! I almost jumped up and down when I saw you win the last challenge and these new cards have WINNER written all over them!! Outstanding in every way friend!!

Darnell said...

No need to thank me, Max; it's me who thanks you for being such a genius unconventional card artist! You rock the whole concept of stretching your stamps in new and incredible ways! Your surgically enhanced flower is the color of a Caribbean sunset and those colors really pop against the white and black striping! I love that Zentangle flower stem and Washi border!

And your optical illusion shoe leaves me speechless! Really, a pancake maker? The whole process blows my mind! I hope you teach classes in your community and if you don't, you should! This is a stunning satiny work of art!! Hugs, Darnell

These cards are awesome. I thought it was a white dress with a black insert at the neckline. Making the flower is what really caught my eye and it is so clever. Great cards!

Two great cards. Love them both and love your thinking out side of the box on both of them. Must admit the more I look at the show the more I see the lady in the white jacket with a black shirt and a butterfly necklace. Mind you I have just picked up my new glasses and everything looks different!! Hugs Mrs A.

Oh.My.Goodness! How unusual and how clever to cut the butterfly apart using the wings to make this gorgeous, gorgeous flower. This is just stunning in color and originality. And I think I thought 'neckline with jewelry' at first glance. But after looking I did see the shoe. Again, a clever idea to display this butterfly shape. The UTEE really made the shoe gleam like patten leather dress shoes too. And congratulations on your accolade at the last 2fer! Well deserved. TFS & Hugs. .

sharon said...

Wow your cards are both amazing!!!!
I also thought that the first card was dress with a butterfly.
Such a clever card.

WOWZERS!!!! That are two absolutely amazing cards! That flower - what a lot of work, but totally worth it!!!! That second card - my moth dropped open! That is one stunning card! Didn't you worry that the embossing powder ruins your pancake maker??

This is so creative! Love it! I have a butterfly die that I need to look at again and play with. Thanks so much for joining us at The Card Concept.

Oh my Mac I can really see why you were the "unconventional winner" in the last challenge. Stunning cards. I must admit that I saw and still do a lady's blouse with a beautiful black scarf or insert tucked in, and a butterfly broach at the neckline. But, if the "shoe fits", I now with a little prodding on your part see an elegant and bold ladies shoe. I love the strong sentiment on this piece. Your flower card is no less amazing with all those brilliant butterfly wings subbing as petals. The Zentanglish stem is quirky too. Love, love, love both examples. Thanks so much for sharing these beautiful artistic cards Mac on the All About Occasions, "Anything Goes" challenge at Watercooler Wednesday this week. You really stood up to the challenges.

WOW! WOW! and WOW!!!! These are amazing Mac, I just love how your mind works.
I saw the shoe straight away ..... love it! But now you've mentioned the necklace, and the black dress with the white jacket I can see it all. What a fab design. The butterfly flower looks cool too.
It's an honour to share the GD spot with you xx

Beautiful way of using the butterfly image on both cards. I love the gorgeous flower and also the way you decorated the shoe that way. Awesome!

WOW, WOW, WOW ! First Congratulations for being GD at the Twofer challenge. I easily understand why, not only with your gorgeous winning cards, but also with these two ! So, so beautiful and original ! LOVE them ! You will always surprised me with your incredible and amazing skills and creativity, Mac ! Concerning the debate, I'm sorry to tell you that I'm on your DH's side ! I've always seen a lady's neck with her black shirt with a butterfly brooch and her white jacket. I've been so surprised to read that it was a shoe, but yes, looking better, I can see the shoe. It's like a picture of footprints on the sand, it depends of the first image that your brain sends you ! I'm swooning over this gorgeous bold and vivid flower and I love the stem so much ! Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful work ! And thanks for the lovely comments on my blog too ! Hugs x

Um. WOW! Came for the shoe (which I too thought was a necklace, but now that I know better I totally see it too!) and got the extra of the twofer. Your bloom reminds me of one I made years ago with neon butterflies. Fabulous creations. Love the layering on the shoe. Thanks so much for joining us at CUTplorations this month too!
