Red and Black Leaves....

I am loving doing Leaves in different colours at the moment, so today's are Red and Black.
CAS Watercolour Challenge is a colour one of Red and Black
and
CAS Mix Up is to Stencil from Die Cuts....My choice is heat embossing and Die cutting

Here is my card....

I have used a few red colours of Brusho's and one of Lindy Powders, activated with water
and then wrapped in cling film and left to dry.
The ones on the left are on gloss card and the ones on the right water colour card.
Huge differences when you used different card.
I used the one on the right as it was 'Red'.

I die cut the leaf and stencilled with black gloss paste onto a die cut mat layer.
The Red leaf was die cut twice, so that I could individually cut some leaves to add dimension.
Finishing off with stamping and heat embossing the sentiment and a branch die cut for it to sit on...
Ironically I love how the photos have come out and they show the shine from the
Lindy's (for once) and the stencilled leaves....
However.... I cannot get the photos to look like my actual card, which is Red....

Thank you Joanna and Marcia for the fun challenges.
Challenges I would love to enter....
CAS Mix Up Challenge - Stencil from die cuts......
Honoured and thrilled with my top pick - Thank you x.
CAS Watercolour Challenge - Red and Black
Craft Stamper - Take it Make it Challenge - Anything Goes so long as you include Stamping

Well you did it again, as you always do :D This card is definitely out of the ordinary and I do love the brightness of the die cut watercolour pieces. Against the black card stock, it absolutely adds to this beautiful card.
Thanks for joining us at CAS Mix Up! xx

This card is superb, as ever. I am so glad the shine shows in your photos even though the red colour hasn't come out so well. I love how you have created the dimension with the red leaves, very clever. The shiny black can be viewed as a shadow or another set of leaves depending how you look at it. Great idea to place the sentiment on a branch too . I am so pleased to see another card from you xx

What a truly beautiful card, Mac - love the red watercoloured leaves, paired with the stencilled black ones!

Interesting to see the difference between the watercolour paper and the gloss card! Good to know how to get the more vibrant colour!

Wow wow WOW! Mac, I am blown away! First of all, anything with EP grabs me. I love the black "shadow" of your magnificently layered branch, done with a homemade stencil and black gloss! WOW! Until I read your process, I was not sure if you had two branches, or one with cut up leaves, and I see it is the latter. Covering up the "seam" with the black detailing is pure genius because it also looks amazing, in addition to helping the design!

I did not know that watercolor powders could be used on glossy cardstock. I assumed (we know what that means) that because they are watercolor based, they would never dry on the glossy. Do you use a heat tool to help that process along? While the colors are far more intense on the watercolor paper, I bet the glossy paper has a different texture entirely - or does it lose it's luster with the watercolor pigments?

I couldn't even decide where to PIN this fabulous masterpiece, and finally opted under "leaves", but I truly want to case this card. Thanks for the inspiration today! xx

Hi Donna
You are always so kind in your comments to me and I really do appreciate it x.
I did not use any heating to dry the powders/water Donna....The wrapping in the cling film seems just to dry them.

I have sprayed starch in the past and that just freezes them and really does produce extra special and unique effects.
No lustre loss at all with the gloss card .....

Just to make you laugh.....When spraying water or starch be careful how close you are, as on the gloss card they just woosh away!!Ask me how I know? x.
Pin away my friend...I am flattered x.
Hugs Macx

Oh my, what a stunning card Mac! Loving that leaf die you used. I also love the red and black leaves-looks so pretty! I need to try the cling wrap technique, I've yet to try that. It looks so cool looking on your beautiful pieces of card. Funny how different card gives different looks of vibrancy too. On the gloss paper it looks more pink, but your card one looks very red. I learned something! Hugs, Brenda

This is an amazing card, Mac. Great idea to use the negative of the die cut to make the black leaf. The red one is beautiful with the added leaves. And as I have never tried Brushos on gloss card, only on water color cards, I am grateful to see the differences. Hugs, my dear friend.
