CAS Mix Up Challenge for April....

The CAS Mix Up  Challenge for April is ....
Layered Stamping with Heat Embossing.......Hosted by Susan...
Video link's and inspiration over on the blog....
We have the creative and very talented BozenA from Art Card Box
joining us this month as our guest designer......

This is My Card........

Using the technique, stamping and my choice is die cutting.....

I found using a stamping platform very useful for this technique.
I had never used a layering stamp before
and I found layering with embossing powders a challenge......
Using glitter embossing powders caused it's own problems
and using a full solid stamping layer a challenge all on it's own.....
Everything just melted into one....but I persevered and several versions later I got there.
The 'full' base layer has been stamped and heat embossed
with the pretty pink glitter embossing powder.
The next layer with the deeper pink, Lindy powders
and the line stamping with silver embossing powders.
The leaves have been stamped with several shades of green and not embossed....Only the silver veins.
Finishing off with a double layer of the die cut sentiment
and stamping the line stamp of the butterfly, water colouring and using a chrome pen.

A real challenge for me and of course I could have done this in so many different ways and choosing different powders and layering stamps...but hey where is the fun in that?
Thank you Susan for this challenge and taking me out of my comfort zone x.
It's also a good way to use your unused coloured embossing powders....

I always look forward to being amazed by your creations in the gallery but even more
so this month, so that I can be inspired and learn from you x.
You can see in this photo how the powders kept melting into each other...
The silver powder kept attaching itself to the lumpy pink glitter......
After popping on clear powder on top this made the melting worse....
Yay to keeping going.....x.

Challenges I would love to enter.....
The Paper Players - Laurie's Tic Tac Toe Challenge
I have gone with the diagonal line.....Die Cut + Embossing (heat) + Floral
DieRUs Challenge - Use any Die by a company that the store carries...
The rose stamp is by Concord&9th and the die cut sentiment is Penny Black.

I love the glow of this rose. It looks like it was covered with frost. An amazing impression. I also love the choice of colors, it emphasizes the frost effect even more. The leaves look perfect, when you have not added a shiny EP to them, they are so clear and elegant with a silver contour. A great card for this amazing challenge. I love your creations mix media, every time you surprise me with exceptional creativity and amazing sense of beauty.
Hugs,
BożenA

Oh my goodness, I thought I was alone. This technique was quite a challenge for me too and of course FUN.
I love the pinks in different tones, so smart since the powders do merge together. The pop of silver embossing is a beautiful outline defining this lovely rose. That butterfly is enjoying the bloom and so am I. xxx

A really pretty card, Mac. This is a new technique to me, I'll have to check it out. xx

It is a challenge, Mac, but you created a beautiful card. I love all the different colours powders you used. And the result is amazing! Kisses, my friend.

The glitter embossing powder didn't give me good results at all but I love how they add such lovely sparkle to your rose! This was a real challenge but the journey to a finished card was worth the effort. Beautiful, my friend!

Susan said...

Good for you for persisting, Mac! Your final result is so pretty with the two tone of pink and the sparkle. The silver outline is a great finishing touch.

So impressed that you kept going until you conquered this challenge Mac! Gorgeous rose card!! So worth all the effort in the end. I too struggled with certain stamps and found it much easier I moved on to a different image. :) We are all learning on this one. I don't think any of the Designers had tried this before. xx

Yay to keeping going, Mac! I took the same route and ended up with making a few versions unexpectedly! ;-P The card making process can be frustrating sometimes but I think we practice and learn the most, being on the DT. So glad that we share this experience.
Your glitter pale pink rose is so pretty and I love the sketchy silver outlines! The thin die-cut sentiment looks like it was written by the butterfly. Such a clever design!

Mac your card is stunning, love that you perservered and came up with this beauty! I did note in the videos that having your Heat tool warmed up well did help melting the embossing powders quicker so that they didn't melt into each other and disappear. Not sure if you did this but hope it helps.

How did this one pass me by..?? Simply beautiful, it's not as easy as it appears to layer those powders and your right they can melt into each other even if your heat tool is warmed before. Good to see you carried on like a true crafter as the results are delightful. I wish you could teach me the ways of CAS they always appear so calming.
Have a super week Tracey xx

Your dainty rose is so pretty!
I had a similar problem, with the
embossing powders melting together.
I’m thinking that maybe it was the layering
Stamps that we used. I know that my “layers” were not defined very well. In J. McGuire’s tutorial, she is using a “layering” stamp set that has quite a difference in size and coverage between each stamp layer. It was definitely a learning experience!

It's just so pretty and sparkly - who knew it took so much perseverance. I need to watch the videos before I attempt this I think.
