CAS Mix Up June Challenge

The CAS Mix Up Challenge for June is

Layered Embossing Powders

Hosted by Loll

There are lots of  fun techniques with tons of possibilities.

The design team and our fabulous guest designer Jane from The Purplejet Loves Crafts Blog
have wonderful inspiration for you over on the blog.
There are video links too...

This is My Card.....

Use any technique that layers embossing powders and keep your card CAS.
Include some stamping and your choice....My choice is heat embossing.

I used my electric pancake maker and a craft mat.
This gives constant heat and the powders don't fly everywhere.

I started with melting clear UTEE and then had fun layering lots of
different colours of embossing powders.
Some of them are Lindy's, which have a wonderful shine to them.
I used a cocktail stick to make some patterns and then very quickly pulled off the craft mat
and stamped into the molten powders with a leaf stamp that had gold ink on it.
I left the stamp in place until it cooled and carefully pulled it off.
I was really surprised how well the stamp had stamped and loved it!
Of course if you weren't happy then remelt it and start again.....
I have stamped part of the background card with light grey foliage.
The sentiment has been stamped in green ink and then half heat embossed in gold.
The solid embellishment easily came off the craft mat and I used 3D glue to mount onto the card.

Such a fun technique and I have loads of 'experimenting' to use for future cards.
Pop across to the blog and be inspired by the amazing team and Jane....our very talented Guest.
Thank you Loll for this fabulous theme for this months challenge...

Gorgeous shiny and pretty green and gold heat embossed layering, Mac. I love how you stamped your gold heat embossed leaf. It did turn out so well. I can't wait to see more of your loads of layered embossed samples.

AWESOME! LOVE this design Mac. Such a cool way to melt your green background and then add some interest with swirling the stick. The gold stamped leaf turned out perfectly!! I have not tried this before ... but now I have to ... gosh said the same thing to Jane! So many fantastic ways to use layered embossing powders! Beautiful work Mac! xx

WOW STUNNING. I love using Utee but have not for a while. I use the Hot Pot designed for this kind of embossing with the special non stick paper. the good thing about that is you can save the excess Utee powders and mix them up for next time if you want a range of different colours. Works great with chipboard.xx[aussie aNNie blog]

I love every little inch of this and can imagine how much fun you had creating it. Playing with Utee and embossing powders is very understated, if only chemistry at school was as much fun, I’d surely have came out with a higher grade! Amazing design, I have a soft spot for the glorious leaf.
Hugs for the weekend Tracey x

Wow, this is amazing and so pretty! So you use an electric pan and melt the powders and then put a puddle on your craft mat and then stamp?! Do you have to heat it with the embossing tool or is just heating in the pan enough. I didn't know you could do that! lol I love the beautiful color you got and with that gold that is just stunning! Love your heat embossed sentiment too. Hugs, Brenda

As many have said WOW. Your card and creativity are truly amazing and so wonderful. Love the green. I have lots of embossing powders but no UTEE, but will try to emulate you the best I can. Thanks a bunch for the inspiration!

Mac Mable said...

Hi Jeanne...
Thank you so much for your kind and generous comments.
The technique will work with embossing powders, without the UTEE, it just takes more powders.
It's a great way of using up embossing powders .......you know the ones we've all bought that are hiding in the cupboard!
Thanks agian

This is just absolutely AWESOME. Enjoyed reading how you did this, and what spectacular results you got with this technique. Must go research some tutorials. Love the colors you've achieved with the different products...and what fab summer greens in both the underlayer and the texture of the leaf. Stunning. (re: blogger email notification: I left a comment on my last post, checked the box. It doesn't appear to be working for me still. Glad you got it fixed at your blog! ) TFS & Hugs

A stunning leaf, the green and gold go so well together. I had not thought of using my electric griddle with a craft mat to do this type of thing, but I am so glad you shared that tip. Thanks, as always, for sharing. I really enjoy your art!
