Making Magic

Anything But A Card
Update-Thrilled to Bits
I have been lucky enough to have been chosen by
one of the very talented DT members at Anything But Cute
for my Heart MDF as one of their DT Favourites.
Thank you Pamellia.

I had a couple of challenges in mind when I made this project.
and
I loved the theme and colours on the Mood Board at Anything But Cute.
and
Frilly and Funkie Challenge-A Touch of Gold
From The Mood board I have tried to use some of the gorgeous colours
and in particular the Turquoise, Greens and Gold.
Although I never seem to capture them with my camera, however many photos I take!

I was inspired by the picture of the forest with shards of straight lines of light.
This is depicted on the right hand side of the heart.
I have used sprays (from Lindy's stamp gang), a stencil,
gold paint, crystals and glass glitter in lines.
The stencil represents the bark.
I have picked up the swirls from the shoes on the top left hand side
by using a stencil, mica, sprays and mini gold beads.
I used the Zen Leaf 2 and the Zen Single Grass Stamps
from Lavinia to pick up on the shape of the eyes
and the rain/glue like shape on the leaves from the mood board.
I stamped and embossed the stamps in gold,
coloured them with mica and hi-lighted them with crystals.

The 'Love' sentiment has been stenciled with clear gloss gel.
I hope I have captured the Mood board in some small way?

This type of crafting is way out of my comfort zone
and I have never made anything like this before.
I am really keen to try Mixed Media projects even more
as I had so much fun making this project.

I am also entering my project into
The theme co-ordinates with their monthly classes.
and
Mixed Media Fun using my
mediums, paints, sprays, glitter, mica, and loads more!
and had a play x

DREAM

               Black Thistle
A sketch challenge from The Paper Players inspired me to make this card.
I am delighted to have been 'A Cut Above'
with this card at The Paper Players...Thank you very much x
and
using Designs by Ryn Stamp for their Challenge
Designs by Ryn Customer creation challenge
I started by using sprays and brusho's to make a background.
I use a large empty box for this, messy and fun!
I just love Lindy's sprays as they add sparkle.
I die cut circles out of the background and used a Sweet Poppy stencil
and Prima Modelling Paste coloured with black acrylic paint for the thistles.
I stamped a Designs by Ryn leaf stamp
and hi-lighted it with Glossy Accents and Mica Paint,
which looked lovely against the colours of the background blending.
The sentiment stamp is by IndigoBlu.
I die cut another two circles and used Gold Embossing Paste
for the inside of the card to back the circles on the front.
The elements have been framed in black card and layered onto foam.
Loving the challenge of the sketch and the Designs by Ryn Leaf Stamp.

Sending a little something

      Newsprint
I had the idea of Sending a Little Parcel wrapped in Newsprint
so I was inspired by the Challenge to make this card.
I found a suitable news article and made a mini parcel out of the Newsprint.
I distressed it a little with Distress inks.
I sprayed the background with a Lindy's stamp gang spray.
The spray is a mid-brown and has a silver shine to it (at certain angles).
I had to make and print the sentiment from my computer
as I didn't have one suitable that referred to the word 'Sending'.
After finishing the card I thought of a couple more recipients,
later on in the year that I will be 'Sending' a little something too
so made a couple more!
The darker blobs on the cards is where it looks silver, in certain light
and really does add another dimension to the card.
I Enjoyed making these fun cards.

Around The Corner

Just For You
I have experimenting and playing for the first time with
Brusho's today and have made this card.
and will be entering this card into their challenge this week.

Hope you can see by the photos the gorgeous colour of the Brusho's?
I started by embossing the flower with white embossing powder.
I used the technique of wetting the watercolor card first and then adding the Brusho's.
I fussed with them a little to make sure all the flower was covered
and then left the card to dry and was amazed how the colours blended.
For the background I used a stencil and distress inks first
and then added a little glitter paste to add a little bling.
The sentiment was embossed with blue embossing powder to match,
the mini hearts were stenciled with coloured paste,
also to match and a little glitter added to finish.
I loved using the Brusho's and getting messy!
I will also be entering the August Challenge

It's About Time

Hey There Spencer
I am entering this card that I have made for 'Spencer' who is 9 shortly.
The background layer is dry embossed with a Time embossing folder.
It has also been stamped with splats and the chevron.
I die cut the note page to pop on the front and then stamped the sentiment.
I finished the card with bakers twine.

Number

Cue Card - Number
So I have made this card for the challenge
I attached the die numbers randomly with masking tape to do the front layer.
I had to do this twice as I didn't realise the masking tape
would leave marks on the pearlescent card!
I popped blue card under the number 14,
added a couple of punched out blue dots and white embossed the sentiment.
I have a friends son who is 14 next week so I will be sending him this card.

Precious Metal

Indigo Blu Challenge
This months Indigo Blu Challenge is Precious Metals
I am thrilled to have made Top 3 for this card as this was way out of my comfort zone x
I have made this card for the challenge.
I wish my photos looked the same as the card I am looking at....
but they don't!
The 'Precious Metal' look doesn't come out in the photos as well as I had hoped.
I started by stamping and embossing in black lots of Indigo Blu stamps onto metal
and then added dimension with an embossing tool

I then cut the metal into shapes and until I was happy with the layout

I thought it was a good idea to take a photo at this stage
as I liked the look of just the silver metallic layout...just in case adding colour didn't work out!
I then masked off the an area that I was going to use to stamp The Poppy Stamp and applied colour using alcohol inks and acrylic paints.
I tried several colours of Gilding flakes onto black card, including Variegated Red Gold and Silver Moon. Although the Variegated Red Gold was the perfect match it didn't show any contrast with my card so I settled on Silver Moon.
I have never done anything like this before and really enjoyed the challenge of challenging myself to do a 'Precious Metal' card and getting messy along the way.

        Crafty Hugs x
I used Indigo Blu stamps from 'Bubbles Background', 'Crackleglaze Background', 'Ledger Background', 'Sarah's Choice', 'Poppy Medow' and 'Nature 1'.
I also used Frantage/Stampendous elements of Mica, beads and glass glitter

CASology - Aquatic

                  Sorry.....
Thrilled to have won an Honorable Mention for this card-Thank you x
CASology theme for this week is Aquatic.
As I had made an Aquatic card for the last challenge - Click Here
I thought I would do something really CAS
and try to think out of the box.
This is my card - Aquatic being the Tear Drop

The sentiment has been embossed with silver.
The tear drop has been stamped with black ink
and rendered with the tiniest of blending distress inks
and highlighted with glossy accents and a white pen.
The sentiment is a Clarity Stamp and The Tear Drop a Ryn stamp.

I Need My Space

                           The Beach
I am delighted and thrilled to be 'A Cut Above'
at The Paper Players with this card-Thank you!
I was inspired by Three Challenges to make this Masculine card
I masked around the white card to emphasis the 'Space'
The sky has been done using Distress inks and blending
I stamped the clouds - Indigo Blu and embossed them in white
The sea has been water coloured using Distress Inks through a Zebra Stencil
The sand is modelling paste, coloured with acrylic paint and
micro beads added to add texture and to look like sand
The Hut has been stamped - docrafts stamp and embossed in white
I rendered the hut using distress markers and watercolouring
The sentiment has been stamped using mini individual letters
The shells have been stamped and
the starfish has been embossed in gold
but you can't see this in the photo unfortunately
I popped on red line tape around the edge and embossed in gold
and finished off by blending distress inks around the edge

I have included the following photo to show why I had to start again!!
I did try to de-tack my masking tape before I used it
but clearly not enough and it spoilt the edges as I peeled it off!
I used quite a few techniques on this card and really enjoyed Making it
What a lovely Mood board over at City Crafter Challenge
I saw the Beach Hut as 'The Man Shed' for The Male Room Challenge
All three of the challenges inspired me to make the card x

The Eyes Have It

          One Layer Card
I have made this card for the Challenge at
I stamped the 'Geisha Face' stamp from Bravura Stamps
onto the one layer folded card
I have had this stamp for some time and never used it
but I thought 'The Eyes' of the Geisha suited this challenge
I've hi-lighted her eyes with Blue Shimmer Water Colour
and stamped a few extra 'Blue' branches with Brilliance Ink
The sentiment is from Uniko
I drew the black lines around the stamp to finish off the card
