Hiding from The Dust

We have had workmen in the house for the past 5 weeks.
Those of you who have had plasterboard and plastering done
will know exactly why I am 'chewing' dust and finding 'dust' everywhere!
I have escaped to my craft room and I have so enjoyed it......

Two challenges concentrated my mind to create Todays' Card......
Inspired By.... 'Friends' Fall together and that adorable Acorn
Color Throwdown and the wonderful colour combination

Here is my card.......

I relaxed and enjoyed water colouring with shades of Browns and Orange,
after stamping and heat embossing in gold.
I masked the leaves to do the heat embossed circles.

Even after heat embossing in gold I still manged to go outside the lines!

Finishing of with brown and orange heat embossing around the edges,
matting onto a layer of Kraft and die cutting the sentiment.

I so needed to 'craft' and I am so grateful for our hobby.
Thank you so much for popping in, I so appreciate it.

Challenges I would love to enter........
Inspired By.... 'Friends' Fall together - The super cute 'Acorn' was my starting point and so was a dear blog 'Friend' on the design team.
Color Throwdown - Concentrated my mind with the colour selection - Thank you
Just Us Girls - Leaves - Thank you so much for the shout out
Country View Challenge - Autumnal Colours
Thrilled with my shout out - Thank you

Mac, I was just sitting at my computer, polishing off a blogpost for November, when this beauty popped into my inbox!! [I cannot give away the surprise, but believe me, it was almost as if we crafted together!]
That acorn was calling your name, and you answered it beautifully, my friend! The colors, the artsy water-colored style, and delicious gold embossing.. WOW is this a stunning make!
You did need to hide away in your craft room, as I know EXACTLY how dusty that job is! So glad you shared your time with Inspired By!! Thank you!

I do feel for you with the building work, it is so horrible and then with wet weather making everything outside soggy, it can't help. But I am very pleased that it has sent you to your craft room to create, as I am always excited to see your creations. I love your gold embossing and wonderful colours on this one and who cares that you went outside the lines. You have created such wonderful dimension with your colouring, really stunning. Love the heat embossed frame and that simple embossed sentiment too. Nearly time for the Saturday night ritual film, wine and crisps, enjoy xx

Oh, yes, I know plaster dust well! It's horrible and even after the work is finished, it seems to linger for months! Great idea to escape to your craft room and create this beautiful card! I love the addition of the gold circles and the brown and orange heat embossing around the edges.

Mac, lovely to see your creations once again. The shades you chose go so very nicely with the gold embossing. Hope you are able to clear the dust sooner rather than later.

Oh man! I've been in your shoes before and I'm in them now! We are finishing working on 2 rooms at the moment and are definitely living in sheetrock dust, texture spray fumes and primer, now onto paint...

And your card? This is truly gorgeous! Love the embossing and colors, it's truly gorgeous!

This is just stunning, Mac. The colors and the water coloring are both awesome and so perfect depicting the fall leaves. The edges are gorgeous and the small sentiment lets the leaves be center stage.

Such a gorgeous Autumn card Mac! love all the pretty colours on the leaves too. I know what you mean about dust, my OH is currently taking wallpaper off our lounge walls and filling in cracks/holes and plastering...so much dust! I hope you are dust free soon, sorry I am so late leaving comments too, hugs Viv xx

Some people will use any excuse not to craft Lol! Now you could have collected the dust and mixed it with some gel medium to make a new texture medium! Hee! Hee! Still you've made up for it with this beauty, loving the detail. We're grateful that you're back at your desk, much missed your lovely projects. Wishing you a very happy and creative week, Angela xXx

Oh yes, I know that plaster dust well Mac! Would you believe it, when I turn on my heat each year, I still smell the plaster dust on the first run?! And it's been 30 years since we did our remodel and the furnace and vents have been cleaned! Crazy I know. lol Glad you could hide out in your craft room. This card is stunning! I love the gorgeous water coloring of those leaves, a beautiful stamped image for sure, but your watercoloring brings it to life. The gold embossing is perfect. Love this card! Hugs, Brenda

Fabulous watercoloring of the fall leaves and acorns, Mac! Love the gorgeous shades of orange and brown, and a bit of green in the acorns.
The color-matching heat-embossed edges look awesome, and the gold circles are great additions!
It IS nice to have this hobby, isn't it? Crafting saved me a lot of times when I was stressed.
I hope the dust settles soon!

Beautiful card design and beautiful colors! I fully understand the dusty situation with remodeling. Everything is coated. But I am sure that it will be worth it when all is done.

Oh, how gorgeous is your card with the lovely leaves!!

Absolutely beautiful take on the Autumn season in your details here Mac! I love that wonderful metallic embossing with the swirls of Autumn color throughout those leaves! Plasterwork can be very hard to contain within those plastic sheets they hang up to keep it "contained" for sure! Hope you are able to catch some clean breeze to get it out of there. Take care, HUGS

Missed you Mac!
Hope the work is completed - suppose I may have that to look forward to? (I wish!)
Another amazing card - you never cease to amaze me with your imagination and creativity. The gold circles were (another) stroke of genius!
Stay locked in that room and let the dust settle - If you open the windows maybe it will just blow away! xx

Oh, my, this is so rich and beautiful and I'm glad I made it here, better late than never, to see it! Stunning watercolor, love the added circles. Very clever and beautifully artistic. I know how you feel with the construction dust as we spent a good part of our spring and summer with construction dust. I'm glad you were able to retreat to your craft room for a little therapy.

What beautiful warm colours, and I really thought the leaves and acorns were glued onto the card because they have so much dimension! Your watercolouring is beautiful and I'm so glad you took some therapeutic time in your craft room. Hope the work is completed now.

Hi Mac... So sorry about you chewing dust - I hate having workmen in. I know it's necessary but not nice.
Your card however, is spectacular! I just adore the colours the design and of course the way you add all the extras like the framing. Don't you fined that the camera picks up more than the eye? I often go outside the lines but don't see it as clearly as my camera. Have a good week and I hope you soon can settle back to normality. Hugs

Sorry I'm so late visiting, Mac. I've had this in my inbox since you posted and I'm delighted to now see that you have gotten much-deserved recognition for this impeccable and gorgeous fall card. It would also make a lovely wall hanging decoration in the newly remodeled home once the workmen have finished! Enjoy your crafty isolation!! Hugs, Darnell

This is so beautiful and you have captured the colours of the leaves turning golden to perfection. Had my booster jab this morning and so far so good apart from feeling cold which is not unusual for me these days so bundled up with lots of layers on. hugs Mrs A.

Magical make, one of my favourite sights to see during Autumn is acorns and Oak leaves so robust they sure know how to weather the storm and keep those cheeky squirrels happy. The gold embossing gives them a super halo. Stunning.
I know exactly how you feel regarding the plaster and dust my Hubby was a plasterer by trade and I'd make him change in the porch before he entered the house every work day.. you made a good choice hiding in the craftroom.
Hugs Tracey xx

Oh gosh has it really been this long since I last popped over. Work is so busy just now with all the supermarkets ramping up for Christmas it is easy to lose track of days never mind weeks. So glad that on this catch up I scrolled down and found this it is so very good your watercolored leaves are awesome. Hope the dust really has settled now and you are all ready for Christmas! xx
