CAS Mix Up September Challenge

The Cas Mix Up Challenge for September is ....

Ink up your Stamps with Markers.

Bonnie is our host this month.
Chrissie from Simply One of A Kind is our wonderful guest designer.
I hope to see you in the gallery this month with this fun challenge.

This is my card........

I have used Distress inks to ink my sentiment stamp, stamping
and my choice is heat embossing and die cutting.
I started by using the markers to ink up the large sentiment stamp
and lightly spraying with water before stamping.
After it had dried I clear embossed with several layers of clear embossing powder.
I then completely sprayed the card with flat black ink.....
Lindy's are usually shimmery but I wanted a matt black one on my card.
Using several cotton buds I removed the ink, that had beaded on top
of the clear embossing sentiment.
I had never tried this before and it worked really well.
I finished off with die cutting and water colouring the flower die with the same distress markers.

I had fun with inking the stamp with the markers and then spraying with the black ....
There are video links for more inspiration on the blog
and fabulous inspiration from the rest of the team and Chrissie.
Hope to see you in the gallery x.

Gorgeous colored and heat embossed..several times..die cut sentiment, Mac. Adding the flat matte colored black spray was genius! Your die cut colored flower was the perfect final touch, my friend TFS Hugs..

When I first saw your card I just thought you had stamped on black Mac - duh - colors wouldn't show up on black!(I guess it could have been a die cut colored word?!) What a great idea to spray the whole card black after embossing the word so it would resist! Love the colors you used here - and the sweet added stem! Julia xx

Fascinating technique, thank you very much for the detailed description. Initially, I thought that the sentiment was cut from the colored background and glued to the black base of the card ... how wrong I was when I read the description :-) Great card, I love the fabulously colorful lettering and the black, matte background. Another amazing card and great technique.
Hugs,

I would never have thought to spray this fantastic sentiment with black paint! But what a dramatic effect it has! I love the contrast with the delicate watercolored flower! Wow!

A superb card - as usual - absolutely stunning on the black background!

LOVE this and your fabulous idea of spraying the background black after embossing. Now I wonder, did you ink your clear stamp with clear embossing ink then place it over the coloured image then add embossing powder before using the heat gun? I know that may sound like a silly question but I love to ask and learn.. I am loving the effect and also wonder if black dylusion spray would be ok for the background? You guess it, I am thinking of trying this technique of yours later. I love the technique for the challenge and all the cards, including Chrissie's are stunning.xx

Very cool experiment, Mac! It turned out beautifully! Love the flat black background with the bright and shiny thanks die-cut. Great design with your watercoloured flower being part of the "n". xx

It looks fabulous and the technique is coming back to me - is it called Joseph's Coat? Anyway, you've done it beautifully - the colours sing out.

I thought you did some masterful ink resist blending, but how brilliant to use a spray! So much quicker... and another item to add to my growing list. I have this mega stamp set too, but had no clue what or when I would use it. Great job. Love the colours. xx

love the colours on your wording and flower. I did try black out but with an ink pad, this spray gives a real black though - fab.

Wow, you need to put a note next to the card - "I did NOT use black cardstock", Mac! ;-P I thought you used black cardstock until I read the blog. You're amazing to think of spraying the entire panel with the matte black. And the results are fantastic! Love the contrast between the colorful and shiny sentiment and the matte black. The flower colored with the matching colors is so pretty and the stem echoes the cursive lines. Hideko xx

That is amazing - at first I thought it was a black card base with a die cut "thanks" on it. I love the way you coloured the thanks stamp and then used the spray - what great coverage you got with it! The die cut watercoloured flower is the perfect finishing touch.
