CAS Mix Up June Challenge

The CAS Mix Up Challenge for June is

Layered Embossing Powders

Hosted by Loll

There are lots of  fun techniques with tons of possibilities.

The design team and our fabulous guest designer Jane from The Purplejet Loves Crafts Blog
have wonderful inspiration for you over on the blog.
There are video links too...

This is My Card.....

Use any technique that layers embossing powders and keep your card CAS.
Include some stamping and your choice....My choice is heat embossing.

I used my electric pancake maker and a craft mat.
This gives constant heat and the powders don't fly everywhere.

I started with melting clear UTEE and then had fun layering lots of
different colours of embossing powders.
Some of them are Lindy's, which have a wonderful shine to them.
I used a cocktail stick to make some patterns and then very quickly pulled off the craft mat
and stamped into the molten powders with a leaf stamp that had gold ink on it.
I left the stamp in place until it cooled and carefully pulled it off.
I was really surprised how well the stamp had stamped and loved it!
Of course if you weren't happy then remelt it and start again.....
I have stamped part of the background card with light grey foliage.
The sentiment has been stamped in green ink and then half heat embossed in gold.
The solid embellishment easily came off the craft mat and I used 3D glue to mount onto the card.

Such a fun technique and I have loads of 'experimenting' to use for future cards.
Pop across to the blog and be inspired by the amazing team and Jane....our very talented Guest.
Thank you Loll for this fabulous theme for this months challenge...

Rainbow Anchor....

My card today was inspired by...........
The CAS Watercolour Challenge, which is Rainbow.
Watercooler Wednesday Challenge , which is Masculine theme
Fusion Challenge, great photo inspiration and a theme of Harbour

This is my Card.....

The Anchor is a die cut and I have used Brusho's activated by water.

This was not the first attempt........
I found it incredibly hard to use all the colours of the rainbow on this small die cut
and not to get 'muddy' colours.
I tried the brusho's on a large card and then die cutting the anchor
but kept missing colours so for me the only way to do it was actually on the Anchor itself.

I finished off with layering the anchor, stamping the rope in grey
and doing lots of dots with a toothpick.

And then it happened.....
I use Brusho's a lot and knew if I sprayed them with anything they would re-activate.
I wanted a little shine...So I thought a gloss varnish would not re-activate them..
It did!
Still happy that you can still see all the colours of the rainbow
but I felt all my hard work slightly diluted...literally.
Always learning and loving it x

Thank you for stopping by, it means a lot to me x

CAS Mix Up May Reminder Post

Time for the reminder post at The CAS Mix Up May Challenge,
which is using Gelato's or Crayons

This is my card......

I have used Distress Crayons, Stamping and my choice is Stencilling, embossing paste
and Die Cutting...
I started with using a thin layer of white gesso through the stencil.
This produced a slight resist...
After taking the stencil off I went over the whole card with several shades of Distress Crayons
and using a damp wipe to blend.
I wiped off any residue colour off the gesso with a damp wipe.
This is how I coloured in my background.
I popped the stencil back on, mixed a few colours of the Distress Crayons
and embossing embossing paste together and used this through the stencil.

The sentiment has been stamped and I have used Lindy embossing powder,
which looks all shiny  and changes colour in different angles.
The die cut circle has been raised up on foam for a little dimension.

There are video links on the CAS Mix UP Challenge blog
on different ways to use the Crayons or Gelato's.
Jenny from My Paper Epiphany is our wonderful guest designer this month,

Guest Designer for Twofer Challenge....

I was thrilled to be The' Unconventional Winner' at The Twofer Challenge
with these two cards for the month of March.
As a result I was kindly invited to guest design this month.

I am lucky enough to be sharing the guest designing with the wonderful Linda
from Life In The Craft Lane, so pop across and be inspired.

The Twofer challenge for May is Butterflies
and I wanted to try and do something a little unconventional with my butterflies.
I have used the same die cut Butterfly on both of the cards......

These are my two cards...........

You must use the same stamp or die to make two different designs for two different occasions
and if the occasions are not clear, it would be good to state them in your post.....

My First Card..........

I die cut the butterfly lots of times,
water coloured with Lindy powders, activated with water
and then cut the butterfly in half, omitting the body part...ouch....
The flower stem and sentiment have been stamped
and I have used washi tape down the right hand side.
I finished off with gold paint around the edges.

My Second Card, which is an encouragement card......

I cut a pointed shoe shape out of thick grey board.
Popped it on my pancake maker for constant heat and used clear UTEE,
black and platinum embossing powder for a layering effect.
I also used frantage glass glitter and mica bits.
I used a cocktail stick to achieve the effect I wanted on the shoe and on the butterfly.
For the skin of the foot I used acrylic paints.
Finishing off with stamping and heat embossing  the strong and encouraging sentiment ,
which I thought went well with the bold shoe image.
I had so much fun making these two cards.

There was some debate after finishing my shoe card...
To my mind it is a shoe
To my DH the butterfly is a necklace, over a black top/dress
or
Is it a lady in a white jacket, with a black shirt underneath
I would love to know what you initially saw when looking at this card
Thank you x

Please Pop across to The Twofer Challange and be inspired by
the wonderful and creative design team.....And..... to join in this fun Challenge.
Thank you Darnell for inviting me to guest with you this month...

CAS Mix Up May Challenge

The CAS Mix Up Challenge for May is

Using Gelato's or Crayons

Hosted by Bonnie

More information and video links can be found on The CAS Mix Up Challenge blog.....
You will also be treated to wonderful inspiration from the rest of the team
and Jenny from  My Paper Epiphany, who is our amazing guest this month.
You will be in for a real treat when you pop into her blog.....

This is my card.....

I used Distress Crayons to colour embossing paste, Die Cutting, Stencilling and Stamping
I had never used Gelato's or Crayons before so I found the video links
on the CAS Mix UP Challenge Blog really useful.

The die cut bird has been stamped with text and then inlaid back into the black card stock.
I used a stencil with clear embossing paste
and also embossing paste coloured with  vibrant pink distress crayons.
I finished off with the die cut 'You' sentiment and branch
and stamping the rest of the sentiment and heat embossing in white.

I hope you will join us for this fun challenge....
Thank you Bonnie for this new to me medium, which I have had fun with.

CAS Mix Up April Reminder Post

Time for the reminder post for The CAS Mix Up April Challenge,
which is The Rubber Band Technique, Stamping and Your choice....

This is my card......

I have used the Rubber Band Technique, stamping and my choice is heat embossing,
water colouring and die cutting.

I am having so much fun trying out this new to me technique.
I started with Magical Powders and spraying water to activate them, in shades of pink.
The black tiny script has been lightly stamped in black archival.
I used two acrylic blocks with different thicknesses of rubber bands and stamped randomly
over the water coloured background, using Versa-Mark.
I then used silver embossing powder and heat set.
The four squares have been edged with black heat embossing and raised up onto foam.
Finishing off with the die cut sentiment that has been layered with silver and black.

Hope you will join us with this fun technique,
which I think makes unique and creative backgrounds.
There is lots of inspiration over on the blog from the talented Design Team
and our wonderful guest designer, Hideko, The Paper Craft Boutique
There are video links too....

CAS Mix Up April Challenge

The Challenge for April is The Rubber Band Technique
hosted by Julia.

To join in you are asked to use the The Fun Rubber Band Technique, Stamping and Your choice...
Pop across to The CAS Mix Up Challenge to see wonderful inspiration from the rest of the team
and Hideko, The Paper Craft Boutique, who is our amazing guest this month.
You will be treated to stunning inspiration when you pop into her blog....

This is my card.....

I have used the Rubber Band Technique, Stamping and my choices are
embossing paste, stencil and die cutting.

This new to me technique was so much fun....
I wrapped a thin elastic band around an acrylic block, stamped randomly
with versa-mark and heat embossed with white embossing powder.
I used several shades of grey ink and blended them, with a brush, over the white embossing.
The flower is a masked stencil, which I popped silver embossing paste through.
The sentiment has been die cut twice and I finished off with white acrylic splats.
If you have never tried this technique why not give it a go.
It produces some unique effects and you'll have fun trying.
Thank you Julia for this new to me technique, which I have loved.
